SILSDEN JUNIORS U13B V KEIGHLEY SHAMROCKS U13A
Presidents cup final wed 7th May In a game of football played under rare conditions for this season hot blazing sun and a rock hard pitch the final of the Presidents Cup was going to be a challenge for both teams. Both teams started nervously testing each other out and midway through the 1st half Silsden thought they had got the break through only for the ball to be frantically cleared from the Shamrock goal mouth and straight back up the pitch for a goal mouth scramble at the Silsden end. Silsden were pilling on the pressure but just not managing to get the finishing touches to put the ball into the net. Half time came with a 0 0 scoreline. Silsden took the pressure up and were starting to look like they were finally going to break down the Shamrocks defence both teams were forced into making substitutions as the pitch was starting to take its toll on the players. More and more Silsden tested the Shamrocks defences until disaster struck a cleared ball from the Shamrocks keeper took an awkward bounce catching the Silsden defence and keeper out just enough for the awaiting striker to put it home. Shamrocks dug deep and as much as Silsden tried their hardest the ball wouldn’t go to the back of the net. All in all a frustrating end to the cup run for Silsden but as they have gained promotion to the same league as Shamrocks next season looks like some epic local derby’s are imminent with the word revenge echoing around the camp. W/E 04/5/08 Silsden Juniors 12A ’s Tues 29/4/08 CHAMPIONS FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN SUCCESSION Silsden were away to Queensbury needing a win to secure the league title for the second year in succession. Silsden started off nervously and conceded an early soft goal against a very good Queensbury side. Silsden were fortunate to equalise when a Queensbury defender forced the ball over his line when he was trying to defend a Dylan Budge cross. Again Queensbury broke away to go 2-1 in front after their striker fired home. Silsden then hit back through Ben Ramsden when his shot squirmed under the goalkeepers body to make it 2-2 at half time. At half time managers Stephen Narey and Andy Holt gave the players a morale boosting talk and when the news came through that their local rivals were losing there was no stopping the lads. Playing uphill in the second half Silsden began playing their fluent passing football and were rewarded when Ryan Narey fired in an unstoppable shot to make it 3-2. Again Queensbury hit back and only a last ditch tackle from Jack Leach kept the scoreline the same. With 5 minutes to go Silsden got the vital killer goal after Harry Marshall capped off a superb display by heading home from Josh Metcalfes corner. Dylan Budge was named Silsdens man of the match. Final Score Queensbury 2 Silsden 4
Silsden Juniors 12A ’s Liam Daley Memorial Trophy, Under 12’s, match report vs. Oakworth – Cougar Park, Sunday 04-05-08 Silsden were playing local rivals Oakworth in the final of the Liam Daley Memorial Trophy hoping to secure the double having achieved winning the league the week before. On a very wet day Silsden adapted to the conditions better and played their best football of the season. Josh Brown gave Silsden a 6th minute lead with a great free kick that hit the top corner of the net. In the 25th minute Budge beat 3 men on the left before chipping the ball to Josh Holt who placed the ball in the bottom right of the goal. Silsden had Oakworth on the back foot with Holt, Brown, Ben Addison, Ben Dakin, Ben Phillip, Harry Marshall, Jack Leach and Danny King dictating all the play and chasing for every ball. Budge and Ben Ramsden were causing problems for the Oakworth defence creating enough chances to put the match in doubt. In the second half substitutes David Hunt, Jack Roberts and Josh Metcalfe were introduced and it was Metcalfe who sealed the game with two great goals in the space of three minutes early in the second half- the first coming after the calm Phillip brought the ball out of defence, played a killer pass through to Metcalfe who gleefully fired home. Budge then presented Metcalfe with his second when a great move ended with Budge rounding the keeper before passing to Metcalfe who tapped into an open goal. Silsden goalkeeper Jack Baker only had one save to make and this was down to the excellent work rate of all the team (all got the man of the match award) Final Score Oakworth 0 Silsden 4

W/E 27/04/08 Silsden Under 8 A v Westwood Jets. League winners Westwood visited Silsden for the final game of the season, but it was the home side that put in a Champions performance with a comprehensive 2-1 win. Silsden scored first, Sean Clayton gathering the ball 15 yards out on the right, and then arrowing a shot straight into the top left hand corner. Oliver Howard doubled the lead 5 minutes later with a replica stunner from the left flank to give Silsden a 2 goal lead at half time. Westwood responded well after the restart, keeping the Silsden defence busy, but Hall, Briggs and Worsencroft took all that was thrown at them. When Westwood scored from a corner, Silsden simply moved up another gear, with MOTM Alex Briggs hitting the post, Elliott Halls shot being cleared off the line and Clayton heading a corner just over the bar. Finishing the season with 4 postponed fixtures unplayed, Silsden would surely have been a dead cert for League runners up, but this victory went some way to softening that disappointment. Final score Silsden 2-1 Westwood Jets.
Silsden under 9A’s A game which saw Silsden keeper Josh Vickers make a number of good saves particularly in the first half but it was the visitors who went in at half time in front.Silsden got more into the game a couple of minutes into the second period when Luke Baldwin scored from out wide in the far top corner, Oakworth scored again pretty much straight after as the game opened out as both sides went for the win but again it was M.O.M. Baldwin who had a hand in the equaliser when his corner came back off the back post along the line for Jaimie Ridehalgh to tap home. As dusk fell Oakworth grabbed two further goals to win 4 - 2.
Silsden Under 9A’s went into the final game of the season looking to finish with a win after the defeat to Oakworth and restore some pride after the defeat a couple of weeks ago at Menston, they got off to a great start when Luke Baldwin picked up a ball on half way passed two defenders and cut inside to score from the edge of the box which seemed to give the home team confidence to play some good football. Both teams created chances but lead by M.O.M. Max Orviss Silsden defended well. The second half again saw Silsden attacking and was no surprise when Baldwin added a second, the visitors got a consolation goal but the home side got back the two goal lead when Baldwin and Jack Watkinson broke away, it was Watkinson who scored. Cameron Allan scored from from distance with a looping shot before Nathan Town struck from just outside the area to complete an excellant performance. Silsden A 5 Menston Rangers 1
Silsden Under 9B’s Bingley went into their last match of the season having lost all of their previous 17 fixtures, but were equal to Silsden in all departments in a well fought first half, which could have gone either way. Bingley looked compact and organised at the back and made it difficult for Silsden to play in heavy conditions. The away team opened the scoring with a strike that ricocheted into the net, after taking a defection which left George Muir wrong footed in the Silsden goal. Nathan Town was fortunate to level the score for Silsden unleashing a heavy strike that was knocked into the air by the diving Bingley keeper, but the ball's momentum took into the roof of the net. Silsden looked a different side in the second half and managed to play some of their best football of the season. Jack Shaw was the first to get on the score sheet with a powerful shot from distance, Nathan Town completed his hat trick and Matt Connolly added a further goal, however the pick of the goals was from Cameron Bealey Kay. Cameron Allan had picked the ball up in his own half, made his way quickly down the right wing, beating two challanges and delivered a perfectly weighted ball into the box, that Bealey Kay headed into the corner of the goal. It was difficult to pick a man of the match due to the excellent all round team display, but the players decided that it should go to Sam Wooton, who had defended well throughout.
Silsden A’s Under 11 vs Shipley Tigers U11 Wed 23 April 2008 Although dominating the game for long periods, Silsden made hard work of creating clear chances early on. Eventually though Robert Golson scored a good poachers goal following a goalmouth scramble which seemed to relax the home side. Shortly afterwards, a perfect Euan Sessford corner was superbly headed into the far corner by George Guest. By now Silsden were using the full width of the pitch to create space and were threatening with more purposeful attacks on the Shipley defence. The increased pressure paid off when a mix-up in the visitors box allowed Robert Golson to double his tally before completing his hat-trick by pouncing on a weak Shipley free-kick just before the break. Credit to Shipley who made it far more difficult for the home side in the second half with some resolute defending. It took a mazy run down the centre of the pitch by Euan Sessford to unlock the back-line when his powerful shot was parried by the keeper which was coolly headed home by Josh Jordan to give Silsden a 5-0 win. Full time: Silsden A’s 5 - 0 Shipley Tigers
Silsden A’s Under 11’s vs Burley Trojans U11 26 April 2008 The final match of Silsden’s season saw them at home to a flying Burley side who were chasing the runners-up spot which Silsden had held for most of the season. Clinical passing and strong finishing were the order of the day as three well taken goals were put away inside the first ten minutes – unfortunately they were scored by Burley. As has been the hallmark of Silsden’s season, this shock spurred the home team into life and slowly but surely turned the tide of the game. First a cool one-on-one by Robert Golson saw Silsden pull one back before Josh Jordan punished a spilled save in the Burley goal. It was an instinctive header by Pat Lee that put Silsden level when he quickly returned a weak goalline clearance. The home side had the visitors on the back foot and threatened a remarkable come-back when Euan Sessford unleashed a rocket into the top corner from the edge of the area to put Silsden 4-3 up. But a resolute Burley side again reversed the scoreline by firstly equalising from close range before going 4-5 up after overpowering the home midfield. After nine goals in the first half, it was a surprise to see neither side create any clear chances in the second as the game petered out to a disappointing home defeat for Silsden. Full time: Silsden A’s 4 - 5 Burley Trojans
Silsden Juniors 12A’s were at home to an Oakworth side who were neck and neck with them both challenging for the league title. Oakworth took the lead in the 19th minute when Declan Consoli stabbed the ball home from close range. Both teams tried to play good football but both defences were on top especially man of the match Josh Brown for Silsden and George Brown for Oakworth. Silsden were denied a blatent penalty in the first half when a Oakworth player handballed in the area. Silsden eventually got the equaliser 2 minutes before half time when a Ryan Narey shot found the top Corner. In the first minute of the second half Oakworth regained the lead when the referee gave yet another dubious free kick and George Brown struck a superb shot that beat Jack Baker. The football was now swinging from end to end with Oakworth having a couple of half chances and then they were also denied a blatent penalty after a push from Narey. Silsden hit the post from a great long range shot from Ben Addison and then Oakworth goalkeeper Reece Simpson pulled off a brilliant save from a Dylan Budge strike. In the last 10 mins Silsden constantly attacked with Ben Ramsden causing problems down the right and then with 2 minutes to go Budge saw his shot come down off the crossbar and onto the line or was it behind the line? Silsden now have to win their 2 remaining games (Oakworth & Queensbury away) to retain the league they won last season. Final Score Silsden 1 Oakworth 2.
Silsden Juniors 12A’s were away to Oakworth who beat them in the previous game four days ago and were looking to claim the 3 points that would put them back in the title chase. In wet conditions Silsden started off well and in the first 10 minutes had the ball in the Oakworth goal but Dylan Budge was judged offside. Silsden took the lead in the 23rd minute when Josh Metcalfe split the Oakworth defence with a great pass with a Ben Ramsden shot, forcing a great save from the keeper who could do nothing about the follow up from Budge to make it 1-0 to Silsden. In the first minute of the second half Silsden went further ahead when Budge sent over a great cross for Ben Ramsden to head home into the top corner. Silsden kept their shape with Jack Leach, Josh Bown, Ben Addison, Ben Dakin and man of the match Ryan Narey looking very comfortable in stifling Oakworths attacks. Both teams had further chances with George Brown hitting the crossbar for Oakworth and Budge / Ramsden going close for Silsden. Silsden now have to win their remaining game vrs Queensbury to retain the league they won last season. Both teams meet again in the Liam Daley Memorial Trophy at Cougar Park on Sunday 2pm Kick Off Final Score Oakworth 0 Silsden 2.
Silsden Under 13A’s finished the season as they began, with a convincing win. A great whole team performance saw Silsden emerge 14-1 winners against Myrtle Park. Defenders Oliver Butterfield, Zac Conway, Jake Muir, Mark Smith and James Schofield marked well only allowing Myrtle Park one chance on goal which they took. Midfielders Ben Geary, Tom McCann, Lewis Morgan, Oliver Peacock, Tom Southgate and Oliver Stephenson moved well putting through lots of perfect passes. Up front Tom Baldy, Danny Driver and Tom Yeadon all had their shooting boots on. Scorers were Yeadon (4); Stephenson (2); Peacock (2); Geary (2); Morgan; Driver; Baldy and Muir. The team and their parents would like to thank Manager Andy Geary and Assistant Craig Whitaker for all their help and continued support throughout the season. Final score Silsden U13a’s 14 - Myrtle Park 1.
Silsden Under 13B A crucial weekend lay ahead for Silsden, in order to win their league they would have to win 2 games from their 3 remaining fixtures. First opponent’s Guiseley Blues a strong spirited team who were determined to make amends for their defeat to Silsden the previous week. Silsden seemed to start the game cautiously giving Guiseley more determination but once Silsden settled down they began to play like a team. Goals came from Sam Woodrow 1,Kyle Moulson 1 and another hatrick from Luke Wilson. Guiseley didn’t go away empty handed after netting two goals, their pride was intact after two great games against Silsden and were confident of building on this for a higher league position next season. MOTM Jack Beetham Final Score Silsden Junior U13B 5 Guiseley Blues 2
Silsden Under 13B The league deciding game on Sunday afternoon lived up to every expectation with 2 teams each with a chance of the spoils. As this was Burleys last match of the season they had to win and hope that Silsden could only manage a draw with fellow title chasers Kings Park in their last match. There was no time for nerves as straight from kick off both teams were going at each other with sheer determination with strikers from both teams testing the defences and goalkeepers to the max . Silsden netted first only for Burley to equalise and then take the lead themselves . Silsden equalised and then added another to go in front this lifted Silsdens determination to win this match and take the title on home soil and soon added another before Burley took one back .Silsden 5th goal sealed the game and with a great team effort deservedly giving them the league title to take with them to the final of the Presidents Cup in two weeks time Goals came from Chris Rudden 3, Luke Wilson 1 and Adam Cooper 1,with Paul Robinson taking MOTM Final Score Silsden Juniors U13B 5 Burley Trojans 3
Silsden under 16A's looked to finish the league season by preserving their unbeaten record which stems back to November 2007 with a tough home fixture against local rivals Long Lee. Silsden took the lead within 5 Minutes from a well struck free kick taken by Chris Williams, Silsden kept the visitors at bay for most of the first half Aqeeb Khalifa made it 2-0 shortly before half time with a tremendous header from a well taken corner. Chris Williams added to the score with another free kick, after which Long Lee scored twice in quick succession to bring the score to 3-2. Silsden responded well to the pressure and finished the game off with Chris getting his hat trick and John Golson on his return from injury wrapping things up. Silsdens defence of Josh Banks Robert De Belder Aqeeb Khailfa & Kane Scott are proving to be formidable against any opposition and this all round team performance sets them up nicely for the league cup final next Sunday against Bingley the match is been played at Bradford City's valley parade ground

W/E 20/4/08 WRCFA Under 12 Junior Shield Final Report v Farsley Celtic – Woodlesford, 15-04-08 Silsden Juniors 12’s Silsden were back at Woodlesford for the second time in a month and Farsley Celtic were their cup final opponents. Both teams came out and played some great football. Silsden started off brightly with most of the play involving Danny King and Harry Marshall down the right wing but they couldn’t find a way past a very solid defence. Dylan Budge and Ben Ramsden were working their socks off trying to find opportunities to score but again there was no way through the Farsley defence. The midfield of Ryan Narey and Josh Holt kept probing away but no clear cut chances for Silsden materialised. After 15 minutes Farsley came more and more into the game and they took the lead on 27 minutes with a great move down the right which resulted in Jack Baker pulling off a great save but he couldn’t do nothing about the follow up. In the latter minutes of the first half Silsden looked dangerous with Ben Addison and Josh Metcalfe having a bit of room on the left forcing Farsley to defend deep. In the second half Ben Dakin replaced Addison and he had a superb game at left back. The second half was similar to the first half with man of the match Josh Brown and Ben Phillips solid in the heart of the defence. As the game went on Jack Roberts and Jack Leach were introduced to the game and in the last 10 minutes Silsden played their best football of the game and were very unlucky not to force an equaliser as they had the majority of possession. This was a tremendous performance by all the lads and Farsley Celtic have been strongest opponents Silsden have come across. Credit goes to both teams for putting on an outstanding football display. Final Score Farsley Celtic 1 Silsden 0
Silsden Juniors Under 11A’s Thursday 17th April Silsden produced their best performance of the season last Thursday night as they became the first side to beat champions elect Otley Town. Silsden suffered a blow before the game when keeper, Sam Warriner was ruled out with a sickness bug. Pat ‘the cat’ Lee replaced him in goal and was rewarded with their first clean sheet of the season. Silsden were at Otley from the off and had a couple of chances before Dominic Mortimer’s free kick was headed home from close range by Euan Sessford. A smart move involving Kalvin Sign and George Guest lead to Sessford cracking his second goal from the edge of the box giving the Otley keeper no chance. At the other end Joe Mason and Tom Leach were in commanding form and protected Lee superbly. The second half saw more Silsden pressure with Tom Barraclough outstanding on the left hand side, his link up play with Harry Muir was a feature of most attacks and Josh Jordan went close to adding a third before Silsden eventually did. Robert Golson turned superbly in the box and as his shot was blocked Harry Muir fired it back in and the Otley defender headed into his own net. It was no more than Silsden deserved as all 11 players played with both pride and passion and thoroughly deserved the win. Final score Otlley 0 Silsden 3
Silsden Under 8A’s team produced one of the performances of their season to pull off a 3-2 away win at 3rd placed Oakworth. Limited to only 7 players, they responded to manager Wes Lowries request for pass and move football, and Sean Clayton opened the scoring when he skipped past the Oakworth defence and coolly slotted the ball past the keeper. The lead was doubled soon after when Oakworth failed to clear a goalmouth scramble, and Ben Clarkson was free to tap the ball home. Oakworth responded well, and after several fine saves by Silsden keeper Charlie Lowrie, the Oakworth No.7scored a fine individual goal. 2-1 at half time. Oakworth pressed hard in the 2cnd half, but defenders Max Worsencroft and Connor Malee coped well, ably assisted by midfielder Elliott Hall who made some fine tackles. The 2 goal lead was restored when an overhead flick from Clayton again found Clarkson unmarked and he calmly sidefooted the ball into the net. Rob Jones blazed a left footer just wide, and a powerful free kick from Hall was well saved, before Oakworth scored a second to ensure Silsdens nerves were jangling until the final whistle. Man of the match was Sean Clayton, who worked tirelessly all game. Oakworth 2-3 Silsden.
Silsden under 9B’s Having beaten Menston away from home convincingly only 2 weeks ago Silsden went into this match with confidence riding high. However, Menston were the more assured team and had clearly worked hard to plug their previously leaky defence. Silsden had some good chances in the first half with both Jamie Ridehalgh and Josh Vickers shooting from distance, but both blistering shots only managed to hit the wood work. Menston looked dangerous on the break and managed to score the first goal through a well worked team effort. It looked as though they would go into half time in front, but Silsden's highest scorer this season Danny Treece came to the rescue once again bringing the score level. The second half followed the same pattern as the first with Silsden having good possession, without being able to capitalise. Jack Shaw showed some good close control and created many openings, but Menston continued to defend resolutely. The away side were rewarded for their hard work in defence, when they just managed to keep the ball in play on the right wing and the cross was turned in past Silsden's man of the match Matt Connolly who had a solid game playing in goal for the first time.
Silsden Juniors 12A’s were away to second division opponents Keighley Shamrocks in the semi final of the Liam Daley Trophy and ran out comfortable winners in the end. In the first half Shammies were giving Silsden a game by not letting them settle and they restricted Silsden to 3 goals with them coming from Josh Metcalfe, Dylan Budge and Ryan Narey. Shammies had a couple of half chances from James Lee and Luke Reece but there was no way past Silsden goalkeeper Jack Baker. In the second half Silsden upped their game and ran in 11 second half goals. Budge scored another 3 and Narey scored another 2 to both get their hat tricks. Ben Ramsden came on and scored a hat trick. Further goals from Ben Addison, Jack Leach and Josh Holt completed the scoring. Whilst all the emphasis was on the scorer’s credit has to go to the solid back four of Harry Marshall, Ben Dakin, Josh Brown and man of the match Jack Roberts who had 5 goal assists today. Final Score Keighley Shamrocks 0 Silsden 14
Silsden under 12B’s produced there best performance of the year to deny Grassington 12 wins out of 12 and a “perfect season”. The game began with Silsden kicking up the hill but despite this and on a pitch that resembled a ploughed field Silsden enjoyed the better of a competitive first half. Josh Morton and Jamie Laycock on the right tormented the Grassington defence and Jamie in particular turned the centre-half inside out on a number of occasions. Silsden were rewarded with a number of corners which Sam Smithson delivered with pace and accuracy, but were unable to finish the chances that resulted. Similarily, Grassington tested Matty Bygrave in the Silsden goal with a number of long range efforts which he dealt with comfortably. 0-0 at half time. The 2nd half ebbed and flowed as both teams pushed forward. First blood went to Grassington who broke away and played a lovely ball through the heart of the Silsden defence for the centre-forward to gallop onto and score in the bottom corner, despite a valiant effort from Matty Bygrave. Despite this set-back Silsden didn’t let there heads drop and within 10 minutes had taken the lead themselves. Firstly Sam Smithson won the ball on the edge of his own area and then set of on a rampaging run down the left wing. On a number of occasions Grassington tried to legitimately push him of the ball but Sam was to strong and reached the bye line before looking up and delivering a pinpoint cross right onto George Holmes head, who powered a header back the way it came and into the top corner. 1-1 and undoubtedly the goal of the season. Two minutes later Silsden were 2-1 ahead when a huge goalkick from Matty Bygrave was flicked on by Jamie Laycock and unfortunately the on-rushing Grassington keeper completely missed his kick and the ball rolled into the empty net. From the sublime to the ridiculous but they all count. As expected Grassington screamed forward looking for the equaliser and were unfortunate to hit a post in the last few minutes but apart from this Silsden’s defence, marshalled around Jack Collins, Sam Smithson and Lawrence Wildman stood firm and protected the Silsden goal. Final score 2-1. Both teams should be congratulated for overcoming a very sticky pitch to produce a flowing game played in a great spirit. Match Point winner was Lawrence Wildman who literally covered every blade of mud.Final Score Grassington 1 Silsden B’s 2

A strong team effort effectively kept Woods in their own half, Silsden were constant in putting the pressure on which resulted with 3 goals one each from Sam Conway, Adam Cooper and Kyle Moulson taking it to 3 0 at half time. Expecting Woods to come back at them in the 2nd half Silsden were surprised to find they were given even more chances to play some great team football and allowed to dominate the game completely with 5 more goals Jamie England took 2,Luke Wilson 2 and Jack Beetham 1 Final Score Silsden Juniors U13B 8 Bolton Woods Corinthians 0 Paul Robinson was awarded MOTM
Silsden Under 13B If Silsden went to Guiseley expecting to dominate the game as they had done the previous day they were in for a big shock. This game turned out to be end to end football right throughout the game, with both sides having to work exceptionally hard to break each others defences. Silsden were denied a goal after been awarded a penalty 10mins into the game, only for the home keeper to save it. Guiseley managed to catch Silsden out and scored 1st,only for Luke Wilson to put one in and balance the scoreline ,with Jamie England putting in Silsdens 2nd just before half time. Wilson opened the scoring again in the 2nd half, then a rare fumbling mistake from the home keeper allowed Sam Woodrow to put the ball into the back of the net. Guiseley were still not beaten and slotted in a brilliant piece of passing football from one end of the pitch to the other to get their 2nd goal. Wilson finished the game adding another goal for Silsden to give him his hatrick MOTM Ben Lowry Final Score Guiseley 13 Blues 2 Silsden Juniors U13B 5

W/E 13/4/08 Wed 09-04-08 Silsden Juniors 12A ’s were away to Sandy Lane after not playing for 5 weeks and were given a bit of a battle by Sandy Lane. Silsden started off brightly in the first half and went ahead in the 7th minute when a ball over the top from Josh Brown was chased by Dylan Budge who then placed the ball past the advancing Sandy Lane goalkeeper. Sandy Lane then equalised after the Silsden defence failed to clear on the edge of the 6 yard box. Silsden went ahead after Budge slotted the ball home from a great corner from man of the match Danny King. In the 27th minute Budge completed his hat trick when he headed home another King corner. Budge then repaid the favour to King when a pass from him split the Sandy Lane defence and King fired home a low shot from just inside the box. 4-1 to Silsden half time. In the second half Silsden were poor and were put under constant pressure every time the Sandy Lane goalkeeper kicked out. On a very small and narrow pitch his kicks were reaching the Silsden area and Sandy Lane capitalised on this by forcing the ball home to make it 4-2. Silsden were now looking jaded and had a game on their hands but they killed the game in the 55th minute when Brown fired home from the penalty spot after Budge was tripped in the area. Sandy Lane then scored their 3rd in the last minute when their striker rounded two Silsden defenders before slotting past Jack Baker. Final Score Sandy Lane 3 Silsden 5
Silsden Under 9B’s and Oakworth played out a good competitive match despite poor conditions. In the early part of the game defenses were on top and despite looking the more dangerous attacking force Silsden found it hard to break the deadlock. Nathan Town almost opened the scoring with a well struck free kick just inside the opposition's half, which Oakworth's keeper managed to tip onto the post and then saved on the line. Jack Shaw has been close to scoring from distance on many occasions in recent weeks, he smashed in a sweetly taken shot with his left foot to score the first goal and settle Silsden's nerves. Silsden's captain Cameron Bealey Kay has also found goals hard to come by, but managed a cool finish to double the score, with a well worked goal. The ball was moved from defence to attack, giving Silsden a 2-0 half time lead. Oakworth Wasps were obviously roused by their team talk during the interval, as they started the second half in a positive frame of mind and managed to score within 4 minutes. They had the chance of drawing level when they were awarded a dangerous looking free kick in Silsden's third, but it failed to get into the box and Silsden managed to score on the break with Man of the Match Bealey Kay slotting in his second. Nathan Town got into some good positions late on, but despite 2 golden chances failed to find the net and the final score remained 3-1.

W/E 06/04/08 Silsden Under 9A’s M.O.M. Max Orviss helped a well organised Silsden defence keep a clean sheet after two goals in the first ten minutes from Dan Treece wrapped up the points. Both sides played some good competitive football on a bright rare sunny day, one real chance for Shipley came late on when they where awarded a penalty which Silsden keeper Josh Vickers saved with his legs Shipley 0 Silsden A 2.
Silsden Under 9A’s travelled to Menston the next day on the back of the Shipley result but turned out to be a diappointing day as they went five down at the interval and never recovered, M.O.M. Luke Baldwin covered just about every blade of grass. The only Silsden bright spot was a brilliant over head kick into the corner by Cameron Allan which turned out to be only a consolation goal before losing 9 -1
Silsden Under 9B’s made hard work of this rearranged fixture and never really had an answer to an extremely well organised Shipley side. The home team could consider themselves to be quite unlucky to only be one up at half time, as they had a number of good chances. The goal eventually came when defender Callum Hey handled the ball in the area and the resultant penalty was slotted away. Silsden could actually have levelled the score just before half time, when Jack Shaw let loose a terrific shot from distance which somehow Shipley's keeper managed to tip over the bar. In the second half Shipley stepped up the pressure and went on to score two further goal, despite great work from Man of the Match Tommy Snowdon who worked hard throughout
Silsden Under 9B’s needed to pick themselves up after losing the day before to top of the table Shipley, they immediately put the defeat behind them and managed to put on an excellent all round display, that was too much for the home team. A large amount of credit for the victory must go to Danny Treece, whose return to the team gave them an outlet and a much needed proven goalscorer. His pressure led to the first goal when Menston's defender turned the ball into his own net. Silsden played to their strengths with Treece completed a superb first half hat trick, with a further goal from Nathan Town really putting the game beyond Menston as they went into half time 5 nil down. Silsden were clearly looking to build on this platform and became much more cavalier in the second half as they looked for further goals, however, this resulted in gaps appearing at the back giving Menston the chance to make the scoreline more respectable. They made the best of the limited opportunities available and managed to score twice, but the game was beyond them by that time. Silsden's Nathan Town got his second finding the corner from distance and Man of the Match Matt Connolly scored an excellent backwards header to make the final score 7-2.
Silsden Juniors U11 A’s vs Bradford Tigers U11’s The game was very evenly matched during the early stages with both sides playing good passing football. It was Silsden that made the breakthrough though when a long clearance by the home keeper Sam Warriner was well controlled by Kalvin Singh who forced his way through the defence to slot home. Such was the evenness of the two teams, Bradford equalised straight away, and then took the lead with a series of neat passes culminating in a pin-point shot placed just beyond the keeper. Despite the set-back, Silsden kept their heads and drew level themselves when Josh Jordan followed up well to take advantage of a spilled save. Harry Muir then gave Silsden the lead going into half-time with a strong shot into the roof of the net after one of several great corners by Euan Sessford. Buoyed by their renewed lead, Silsden stepped up a gear in the second half and capitalised on the increased pressure when a cool cross by Euan fell perfectly to Ben Sheppard who blasted the ball into the far corner from the edge of the box. The home side then killed off the game when the visiting keeper was unable to hold on to another perfect corner and was volleyed home by Harry Muir to finish the game 6-2. Full Time: Silsden Juniors 6 - Bradford Tigers 2.
Silsden Under 13B v Long lee under 13 Long Lee came to Silsden after suffering a heavy loss to Silsden the previous week, and could easily have rolled over and taken another heavy loss. Long Lee had other ideas and although they eventually lost the game 3 0 they put up a very spirited fight throughout the game .Silsdens Adam Cooper accounted for two of the goals and defender Billy Davis the other. Paul Robinson taking MOTM Final Score Silsden U13B 3 LONG LEE 0
Silsden under 13B v Nab Wood U13A Playing in the semi final of the Presidents Cup Silsden U13B finally passed the semi final hurdle that in the past had excluded them from numerous cup finals. Nab Wood A the visiting opponents from a league higher started the game strongly and were denied a goal in the 1st minute when Silsden keeper Danny Binns blocked a well struck shot from the edge of the box. Both teams were fairly equal each testing each other out but with play sitting mainly in the visiting sides half after 20 minutes Sam Conway put in the 1st of Silsdens goals. Constant pressure up both wings started to rip the defence apart and Luke Wilson soon put in the 2nd goal coming from a string of passes from Ben Lowry to Chris Rudden and onto Wilson to put it in the net before half time. Silsden piled on the pressure in the second half breaking the visitors down, and with a strong midfield and defence whatever Nab Wood tried to come back at them with Silsden had the strength to cope with it. Chris Rudden put in Silsdens 3rd goal a great reward for him after causing so much agony for many teams trying to cope with his height and skills in the box . Nab Woods fate was sealed when Kyle Moulson added Silsdens 4th. MOTM Sam Conway Final score Silsden U13B 4 Nab Wood U13A 0

W/E 30/03/08 Silsden Under 11B’s travelled to BD3, their main rivals for 4th spot, full of confidence after 4 wins on the trot. It turned out to be the proverbial game of 2 halves due to a strong wind blowing straight down the pitch. Silsden started strongly with the wind at their backs Josh Moore was unlucky when his powerful shot was well saved by the goalie and he also managed to turn Calum Hey's freekick just past the post. From Ed Barrett's corner the ball squirmed through to Callum Sugden who managed to get the ball out of the mud and past the keeper at the second attempt. BD3 were struggling to get over the half way line & Silsden forced corner after corner, Danny Smith hitting the post from one of them. The visitors knew they had to make the most of the wind in the first half, they doubled the lead when Smith's hopeful punt from the halfway line was spilled by the keeper and Hey was able to take his time and roll the ball home. The home keeper was finding it difficult to clear the ball and after his kick fell to Ben Appleyard he played in Hey who chipped the ball just wide. BD3 only managed the odd foray over the halfway line, but Alfie Hird was on hand to clear the ball to Smith who steered it home from the edge of the area. The home side didn't give up though and a speculative cross cum shot was blocked by Robert Cox only for the BD3 striker to tap in the rebound. Silsden bounced back and after a break down the right Barrett and Hey combined well before Hey's powerful shot was dropped over the line by the goalie. Silsden piled on the pressure and Hey completed his hat trick when another goalkick fell into his path and he curled the ball low into the corner. As halftime approached Sugden had a tremendous run through the heart of BD3's defence before passing to Abdullah Din who slipped the ball under the advancing keeper. As the second half started the visitors knew they would be under pressure to hold on to their lead due to the wind. It wasn't long before BD3 pulled one back after a break down the left, the striker cut inside and Cox had no chance as the ball hit the bar and bounced over the line. The defence had hardly seen the ball in the first half but they were under pressure from the off. Tom Greenwood and Billy Burridge made some great challenges and Greenwood was unlucky after another fantastic challenge fell to the unmarked striker to pull another one back. It was all BD3 but Cox stood firm turning a shot past the post for a corner. Another cross into the box, this time misjudged by Cox but luckily the home striker shot wide. Silsden rarely broke out and when they did Hey was harshly penalised for what seemed like a 50-50 shoulder to shoulder challenge. From the resulting free kick BD3 moved the ball quickly and Cox stood no chance with a shot high into the roof of his net. Earlier in the season Silsden would probably have folded under the pressure, but they have come a long way and the defence pulled together, Tom Rooke in particular made several goal saving tackles. He and Burridge were determined to hold on to the lead although it was almost impossible to keep the ball away from the Silsden goal. Greenwood also worked his socks off and managed to clear the ball to Hey who forced Silsden's only corner of the half. The corner was partially cleared to Smith whose shot seemed goalbound until the wind blew it wide of the post. Silsden put Moore back on to help shore up the defence and he Hird had their best games of the season. As BD3 pressed again Rooke chased back and made another brilliant tackle before Cox came off his line to make a superb block to help Silsden hold on to the lead. Final score BD3 4 Silsden 11b 6, man of the match went to the whole team for a fantastic display of attack and defence.

W/E 16/03/08 Silsden Under 9A Ben Sugden put Silsden in front when a Jack Watkinson corner was only half cleared to the edge of the box where Sugden shot into the bottom corner of the net and put them on the way to a comfortable but valuable win, M.O.M. Cameron Allen was always in control at the heart of defence. Silsden stretched their lead when Luke Baldwin turned a couple of Burley defenders and crossed for Watkinson to head into the net, the second half was pretty much the same with Silsden creating most chances but only had one more to show for there effort when a Dan Treece shot was only parred by the keeper into the path of an incoming Baldwin who put the ball into an empty net.Final score 0-3 to Silsden A.
Silsden Under 9B Burley Kites 1 Silsden B 1, this was an even contest in which both sides had a number of chances but no body could take them. Burley took the lead before 'DJ' Lowe got Silsden an equaliser when left with just the keeper to beat and slotted into bottom corner. most action after that was played in the middle of the park but M.O.M. Max Misalejvich made one good save when it looked like Burley were going to get a late winner he managed to push a shot over the bar. The game end a draw which was probably a fair result.
Silsden Under 10A’s completed the double over Burley with this hard fought away victory. Both sides struggled to play flowing football in the first half as a strong breeze and muddy field slowed them down. First blood to Silsden when Harry McGowan's effort from the right-wing deceived the goalkeeper at the near post. Silsden were still congratulating themselves on that goal when Burley caught them out and equalised, half-time 1-1. The game was still well-balanced with James Darcy making a couple of confident saves but gradually the Silsden defence closed things up and the midfield started to dominate. Sam Maude went on a trademark burst down the right and shot - the keeper blocked but Ben Metcalfe was on the spot to bury the rebound. Shortly afterwards, a corner from Ben Ogden was headed home at the far post by Harry McGowan for his second. Silsden pushed for more goals with some lovely one-touch passing through the midfield, with man-of-match Dan Hunt, but the home goalkeeper kept them at bay. Final score, Burley 1-3 Silsden.
Silsden Under 10`C had a perfect chance to measure their recent good performances against a Skipton team that beat them 12-0 early on in the season. Again Silsden started slowly but great skill by midfield player Harry Leach and a great lay off by Issac Wroe left lone striker Ryan Thornton with a one on one with the Skipton Keeper and he thundered an unstoppable shot into the top corner, Late on in the first half a long shot was deflected passed goalkeeper Jacob Wroe when he had the shot covered. Half time 1-1, Great defending by Kieran Pennington and Harry Wilson kept Skipton at long shots in the second half and the balance swung either way, before Skipton scored the winner with the last kick of the game. Man of the Match Kieran “John Terry” Pennington, but the score shows how far the team has come on,Well done to all of them !!!
Silsden Under 11 B’s took another step to securing 4th place with a hard fought victory over Thackley. The home team started strongly and had plenty of early possession with Callum Sugden going close from with a header, after good link up play between Calum Hey and Danny Smith. However it was the visitors who scored first after Robert Cox's kick into the strong wind fell to Thackley for an easy opener. Silsden seemed to fall asleep for a short spell and Billy Burridge was unlucky as his clearance fell to a Thackley striker. His ferocious shot was parried by Cox but the ball dropped kindly for the away side and they had an easy tap in for 2-0. Silsden were rocking and only a great last ditch tackle by Josh Moore prevented them from going further behind. As if by magic the home side suddenly sprung back into life, birthday boy Ed Barrett cleared the ball and after a good run from Kyle Booth he passed to Sugden. He seemed to lose the ball but battled to win it back and although his initial shot was saved the ball looped up for him to head it over the unlucky keeper. Silsden quickly broke again and Miles Ogden was unlucky to see his shot blocked after Barrett's corner. It wasn't long before the pressure told and Smith was left with far too much space and chipped the keeper from the edge of the area to equalise. Thackley fought back though and Cox was unfortunate when he came out to kick clear only for Thackley to blast it back past him leaving him no chance. It was a below par performance by Silsden but with the wind behind them in the second half it was a different story. From their first corner of the half they had several shots blocked before Connor Holgate swept the ball home to equalise again. Burridge and Tom Rooke were solid in defence and kept the visitors penned in their own half. Chances were coming thick and fast, Holgate, Sugden and Hey all going close, before Smith crossed for Sugden to slide in and give Silsden the lead for the first time. It wasn't long before Hey extended the lead after he latched on to a poor goal kick and crashed through to curl the ball into the corner. Holgate was then brought down in the area but although Barrett hit a great penalty the keeper made an absolutely brilliant save. Thackley struggled to break out of their half and another poor goalkick was despatched past the keeper by Smith to make it 6-3. The full backs Tom Greenwood & Alfie Hird stopped everything down the wings and after Hird's clearance Silsden won a throw in deep in opposition territory. Hey ran the ball into the area and his cross was dummied by Ben Appleyard and Holgate gratefully tapped the ball home. Silsden stole the ball again on the halfway line and Barrett played a lovely ball to Smith who completed his hat-trick from just outside the penalty area. Barrett also created a goal for Appleyard who looked marginally offside, and when Thackley broke late in the game it was Appleyard who was back in his own half to make the tackle. Barrett set up yet another goal, this time for Hey with another long range effort. Into the last minute and Holgate was brought down from behind to earn Silsden their second penalty of the game. Leading scorer Appleyard strode up to put the icing on the cake but then blasted the ball over the bar. It didn't really matter as the whistle blew with a final score of 10-4, Man of the Match went to hat-trick hero Danny Smith.
Silsden Under 13A's:- Shipley Lions v Silsden U13a's - Silsden enjoyed a lively start to the first half scoring 6 before half time. Tom Southgate and Danny Driver both got braces with Tom Baldy and Ben Geary getting one each. A change around at half time saw defender Oliver Butterfield score his first of the season. Defenders Mark Smith and Jake Muir commended their area well keeping the Lions tamed. Tom McCann deservedly took the match award for his positive attitude and great passing. Final score Shipley Lions 0 - Silsden U13a's 7.
Silsden Under 13A's - Silsden started brightly, scoring in the first 2 minutes to go 5-0 up at half time through Ben Geary, James Schofield, Danny Driver, Tom Yeadon and Tom Baldy. Changing positions at half time put defenders Oliver Butterfield and Zac Conway up front and they each responded with a brace. Well-timed passing and good team worked allowed Yeadon his second and Baldy to complete his hatrick. Tom McCann was again awarded Man of the Match for his continued good form. Final score Shipley Tigers 1 - Silsden U13a's 12.

W/E 09/03/08 Silsden Under 9B’s had good reason to be confident having won the reverse fixture 7 - 3 away from home and started well enough in miserable conditions, but were unable to capitalise on some good early possession. In recent weeks they have created chances but have found it difficult to find the net, whilst their opposition have made the most of their opportunities, and this game followed this familiar pattern. Silsden looked naive at the back, but were still a little unlucky to be 4 -1 down at half time against a well organised "Hawks" team. The second half (like the weather) was a little brighter and there were some promising moments from Silsden, who managed to get the score back to 5-3 thanks to a hat trick from man of the match Nathan Town. Town could easily have got Silsden within 1 goal of the Hawks, but somehow managed to miss putting the ball over the bar from just 2 yards out. Hawks scored once more before the final whistle to make it 6 - 3 and deservedly got their revenge.
Silsden Under-10A v Bolton Woods The visitors from Bolton Woods adapted to the mudbath conditions quickest, creating a chance in the first minute but shooting wide. Silsden reacted well and started to carve out openings themselves, Andrew Briggs heading just wide and Harry McGowan forcing a fine save. After ten minutes a Bolton Woods striker slithered through the mud with a clever slalom and slotted home a fine individual goal. Half-time, 0-1. Silsden regrouped at the interval and staged an extreme assault on the Bolton Woods goal. This was one of the most one-sided halves of football ever seen at Silsden but was matched by one of the best visiting goalkeepers. Shot after shot rained in but this lad was in phenomenal form, his hands were even stickier than the mud. When Ben Metcalfe did manage to beat him the ball thudded back off the crossbar to safety. Silsden needed something very special to equalise and finally managed it with five minutes left, defender Connor Meegan stepping up from the swamp and thundering an unstoppable long range shot into the top corner. But what had looked like a hard-fought point was nabbed away by the visitors in the last minute - a corner, a goalmouth scramble and a winning goal. Harry McGowan was man-of-match, a great effort from all lads, Silsden 1-2 Bolton Woods.
Silsden Under 11 A's vs Gargrave Juniors. A very evenly matched game that saw both teams struggle to get out of midfield during the early stages. As the match progressed a few chances were created as both keepers worked hard to keep the scores level until Robert Golson pounced onto a parried shot from George Guest to put the home side one up. Despite playing better football than previous weeks, Silsden momentarily lapsed back in to bad habits and were increasingly finding themselves out of position. The equaliser came when once again the home defence were too slow to react to a loose ball in the box, before quickly conceding again after losing possession just outside the area. The midfield pulled themselves together though and some fine passing moves were finished off nicely by Euan Sessford to tie the scores. Soon after, George Guest found himself some space towards the corner flag and unleashed a thundering shot in to the roof of the net from an impossible angle to put Silsden on three before Harry Muir battled his way down the right wing delivering a perfect cross for Euan to stroke home for number four. Silsden thought this would have killed the game off but credit to Gargrave who continued to work hard to get back in to the game and were rewarded when a one-on-one attack was saved by the Silsden keeper Sam Warriner but unfortunately bounced back and hit an on-rushing defender and dribbled over the line. Final Score: Silsden Juniors 4 Gargrave 3.
Silsden Under 11 B’s travelled to Wilsden searching their third win on the trot, which would leap frog them above the opposition. After a nervous start Silsden won a corner after a great chase from Ed Barrett. His corner created chaos for the home defence and Callum Sugden managed to prod the ball through the mud into the net. The home team battled back well and Alfie Hird was unlucky when his clearance was latched onto by the Wilsden forward who equalised. Silsden continued to work hard with Ben Appleyard and Calum Hey both going close. However it was Wilsden who benefited after Silsden gave the ball away from a throw in and a super cross from the winger was glanced past the stranded keeper. This seemed to spur the home side on and Robert Cox was called upon to make a great block, before been beaten after another mix up in the defence giving wilsden a 3-1 lead. It was end to end stuff now with Cox in outstanding form performing heroics between the posts. Sugden made a great run down the wing, and as he cut inside he tried to curl the ball into the far corner, only to see it go agonisingly wide. As half time approached it was imperative for Silsden to pull one back and pocket dynamo Barrett was on hand when he lobbed the keeper from 20 yards after a poor clearance. Wilsden continued to have more possession in their opponents half, but the fullbacks, Josh Moore & Tom Greenwood coped admirably with the speedy wingers. Sugden had another fantastic run into the areas this time his chip from a narrow angle landing on the bar. Both sides pressed for another goal and versatile Tom Rooke made a diving block tackle. From the resulting corner Cox was again on hand with another great save. Silsden fitness and pace upfront began to tell and after great defensive play by Moore, he played the ball to Barrett who put Danny Smith clear on the wing. He laid on a defence splitting through ball to Calum Hey, who cooly slotted past the keeper to equalise. Again the visitors pressed and again it was Smith's pace and vision provided Sudgen with his second goal of the game. The lead was a fragile one and Billy Burridge and Abdullah Din stood firm in the centre of defence to keep the home side at bay. The ever improving Miles Ogden made some great runs down the left wing and was unlucky when the keeper just managed to beat him to the ball. Moore again dispossessed the Wilsden winger and after great link up play with Din set Smith off again. This time he played the ball through to Appleyard whose shot was blocked only for Smith to send the ball looping over the keeper to secure victory for Silsden. It was another fantastic team performance but Man Of The Match went to Alfie Hird for his solid performance and no nonsence tackling.

W/E 02/03/08 Silsden Under 8 A’s v Myrtle Park U8 A’s A real game of 2 halves saw Silsden deservedly come away with all 3 points. They took an early lead when Ben Clarkson’s bullet header from 4 yards put them one up. Myrtle Park battled back, and equalised mid way through the first half, before two fine saves from goalkeeper Lewis Middleton, and some solid defensive work from both Connor Malee and Max Berrisford kept the half time score to 1-1. A fantastic 2nd half performance from Silsden, with some fluent passing saw a fine goal from Elliott Hall make the score 2-1, before further pressure lead to Clarkson scoring 2 more to complete a well deserved hat-trick. Another goal from Hall, one from Oliver Howard, and 2 unfortunate own goals, along with a man of the match performance from Jack Lister, made the final score a convincing 8-1 win for Silsden.
Silsden Under 9A’s In what was an enjoyable game to watch on a cold morning Silsden were playing against a strong head wind so spent a fair amount of time defending against a strong Westwood side. As probably expected it was the home side who scored first, but Silsden battled all the way but hit by two more goals just before the end of the half. Playing with the wind in there favour it was no surprise when Luke Baldwin got one back for the visitors tapping in from close range. The home side increased their lead before M.O.M. Tommy Snowden got Silsden's second, as they pushed on for the equaliser they got caught late on again, for a final score 5 - 2
Silsden Under 9B’s Westwood Dolphins started this game 2nd in the league having only lost 1 game all season. Silsden started brightly and had the same number of shots as Westwood in the first half and were unlucky with a shot which hit the bar, but Westwood were much more clinical in front of goal. They went into half time 4 - nil up, the 3rd strike had been disputed by Silsden's keeper George Muir who claimed the ball had been taken from him when he had it in 2 hands. Silsden worked hard in the 2nd half when they had the wind advantage and managed to get the score back to 6 - 2, scoring 2 well worked goals. Danny Treece was composed in the box, calmly chipping the ball into the middle of the net and Dylan Lowe hit the post and followed up the rebound with a good strike. The 7 - 2 final scoreline flattered Westwood somewhat in what had been a fairly even game. Silsden's man of the match was Matthew Connolly who had worked tirelessly throughout.
Silsden Juniors 12’s A were playing their first ever game at the FA Headquarters at Woodlesford and what a fantastic experience for the lads. From the moment Danny King lead the team out all the lads gave 100% and more until the final whistle. Silsden started off the brightly on a very big pitch and Josh Metcalfe and King soon used the full width of the pitch by pressuring the YMCA full backs. Silsden with the midfield of Josh Holt and Ryan Narey dictated the early play by playing some really good passing football with the strikers Dylan Budge and David Hunt constantly harassing the YMCA centre backs. Silsden suffered a blow early in the game when Ben Dakin suffered a knock and had to be substituted. Jack Roberts came on to the right back position and Ben Addison switched to the left back position. In the 18th minute came the crucial breakthrough when Budge had a bit of space and duly fired home. Ten minutes to go in the first half when hardworking Josh Holt then had to be substituted through injury, replaced by Jack Leach and then things got worse when Josh Brown who was awesome picked up an injury in the last minute of the half. Second half Silsden started off brightly with Leach working very hard in the middle. Narey replaced injured Brown in the centre back position whilst injured Holt had to come back on. Ben Ramsden came on for Hunt and with 12 minutes on the clock he fired home at the second attempt after a great save from the YMCA goalkeeper. YMCA upped their game and were well in command and save after save from Silsdens man of the match goalkeeper Jack Baker kept YMCA out, Ben Phillip with some last ditch tackles and Narey, Roberts, Addison and Dakin working their socks off trying to keep YMCA out. Baker could do nothing when a great strike from YMCA brought the score back to 2-1 with 10 minutes to go .The last 10 minutes seemed like a lifetime as another injury saw Narey stretchered off and King went off being replaced by Hunt. It was definitely patch up time now with injured players having to battle it out and they took to the task and defended superbly to deny YMCA a late equaliser and send Silsden through to the County Cup Final Final Score YMCA 1 Silsden 2
Silsden Under 12B’s v Kings Park Juniors Played into the teeth of a gale both teams contributed to a fine game of football as each sought the win that would all but secure 3rd place in the league. Silsden won the toss and had “wind advantage” in the first half but had little to show for it as they managed to squander a number of chances, either side of a neat finish from George Holmes to lead 1-0 at half-time. Against the wind in the second half Silsden initially struggled to clear their area and an equaliser looked imminent. However Silsden began to find their passing game and moved the ball forward through some neat interchanges in midfield and down the wings. From such a move Marco was unlucky to head the ball straight into the keepers arms from a fine cross by Josh Morton. A few minutes later Silsden were to rue that, and other missed opportunities, when the Kings Park captain smashed home the equaliser from close range. Despite this set-back Silsden showed great determination and soon created the chance to go back in front but Josh Morton’s fine strike was well saved by the Kings Park keeper. A few moments later following another fine passing move George Holmes found himself one on one with the keeper and slipped the ball under him and into the net for his fifth goal in 2 games. Predictably Kings Park pushed forward for the equaliser but saw there best chance go the wrong side of the post. Silsden continued to pass the ball well and with more space for the wingers to exploit were only prevented from scoring a third by a couple of fine saves from Kings Park keeper. An excellent match given the atrocious conditions and a fine win for Silsden. Match point winner was Josh Morton. Final Score Silsden B’s 2 Kings Park Juniors 1
Silsden Under 13A’s were impressive from the off, scoring two in the first 5 minutes, the first from Danny Driver, the second Ben Geary with a diving header from a corner. Silsden were 3-0 up by half time, thanks to a cool strike from Tom McCann. In the second half Silsden had the wind against them and the defenders had to battle heroically to stop the ball blowing back into the net. Campion managed to draw two back including an own goal, but a breakdown in discipline saw the referee issue them two yellow cards within 30 seconds. Silsden then charged ahead and got 3 more before the final whistle through Ben Geary, Oliver Stephenson and Tom Yeadon. Final score Silsden U13a’s 6 – Campion Juniors 2.

W/E 24/02/08 Silsden under 8A’s v Westdwood Jets, Silsden produced their best football of the season in a pulsating match away at League leaders Westwood last Saturday. Westwood opened the scoring when they forced the ball home from a goalmouth scramble, despite the best efforts of defenders Max Beresford and Max Worsencroft. Silsden drew level when midfielder Sean Clayton stroked the ball through to Alex Briggs, who arrowed a fierce shot into the top corner. Westwood took the lead again with what appeared to be a deflection, and some great saves from Lewis Middleton restricted them to 2-1 up at half time. The home side doubled their lead at the restart, before their keeper could only parry Elliott Halls shot, and Oliver Howard followed up to bring Silsden back to 3-2. The game then turned when Ben Clarkson looked to have equalised after a corner, only for the Ref to disallow the goal, A good Silsden break saw Robert Jones shot fly just wide, before Westwoods no.8, their best player, made it 4-2 and killed the tie off. Manager Wes Lowrie declared every player to be MOTM, tribute to the whole team who played to a standard well beyond their years. Westood 4-2 Silsden
Silsden Under 8(A)s second game in 2 days brought a home victory against a spirited Menston Rangers side, Sunday 24th. Sustained pressure from Silsden resulted in Menston failing to clear a corner, and when the ball broke to Elliott Hall, he made no mistake with a powerful right footed strike. Silsden were edging the game in terms of possession and a succession of corners, but Menston were defending in numbers and made it to half time just the one goal down. The story was the same after the restart, Menston defending deep and attempting the occasional break. Silsdens passing and patience was rewarded though, when Robert Jones great half volley from fully 20 yards out looped over the Menston keeper for a fine goal, and the game was played out safely. Man of the match was Max Berrisford with a solid defensive performance. Final score Silsden 2-0 Menston Rangers.
Silsden Under 9 A’s Lead by M.O.M. Jack Watkinson Silsden put in their best performance for a number of weeks against agood Horsforth Earthquakes side. The visitors struck first but it wasn't long before Tommy Snowden struck aleft foot shot from outside thee box through the defence and past the keeper to level it up.After that both keepers made good save, eventually Silsden got in front thanks to Watkinson before half time. Some good football played by both teams in the second but the home defence stood upto the task especially Max Orviss who never put a foot wrong. Watkinson increased the lead scoring at the back post before Dan Treece completed the the scoring when squeezing one past the keeper to complete a 4 - 1 home win.
Silsden Under 10A’s The home side went straight onto the attack in this top-of-the table fixture, forcing a couple of brave saves from David Emmott in the first two minutes. But it was Silsden who drew first blood shortly afterwards, Ben Metcalfe sending Andrew Briggs free to finish well. It was a close, hard-fought first half on a muddy field, with both sides struggling to dominate or create chances, Connor Meagan strong at the back for Silsden. Early second half and Silsden stepped up a gear, some good football before fancy footwork from Dan Hunt set up Harry McGowan and Ben Metcalfe at the far post, 0-2. A carbon copy move a moment later was blocked, then the tide turned unexpectedly as Guiseley staged a remarkable comeback. Three quick goals from the boys in the Brazil kit, and suddenly Silsden were on the ropes. The game was now end-to-end and Silsden levelled when Ben Ogden's inswinging corner was sliced into the net for an own goal. But more was to come, Guiseley getting a late winner on the break as Silsden failed to clear. Seven goal thriller, defender Connor Meagan impressing and getting man-of-match Final score Guiseley A 4 - 3 Silsden A
Silsden under 10'c got off to a bad start in their game against Bradford PA when they scored from a corner kick early on. Silsden pulled level midway through the first half when man of the match Jordan Stephenson scored a long range free kick, half time 1-1. Both sides created chances in the second half but it was Silsden that took the lead through Harry Leach after the Bradford goalie spilled a Ryan Thornton shot. Bradford applied pressure on the Silsden goal but good goalkeeping by Jacob Wroe and great defending by Kieran Pennington and Harry Wilson helped them home. What a great team performance. 2-1 VICTORY!!!
Silsden Under 11A’s The poor start to matches that has blighted Silsden's season continued unabated today as they gifted a more determined Prospect side all three points. Despite good work by the home keeper Sam Warriner, a panicky Silsden defence conceded two identical goals early on as the visitors capitalised on the failure to clear loose balls in their box. It was again hesitancy in the area that cost Silsden the third goal from a corner as an unmarked Prospect player found time to collect the ball in the centre of the six-yard box before picking his shot. The introduction of Kalvin Singh for the second half made a marked difference to the Silsden midfield who were able to quickly claw a goal back as Robert Golson pounced on a rebound, but despite an improvement in the quality of football on offer from Silsden, a resolute visiting defence limited the attacks and the game finished in a disappointing, although deserved 1-3 home defeat.
Silsden Juniors 12A ’s were away to Bd3 Utd and what a great game of football by both sides. Bd3 looked the livelier in the first half when they battled for every ball on a very sticky pitch. Both teams had chances to score but it was BD3 who scored the first goal after 25 minutes. This seemed to lift the Silsden players and they had Bd3 under pressure but couldn’t find the equaliser before half time. In the second half it was Silsden attacking constantly but nothing was getting past the Bd3 man of the match goalkeeper who was in tremendous form. Bd3 had one attack in the second half and Silsden goalkeeper Jack Baker had no chance with an unstoppable shot from the Bd3 striker. To their credit Silsden never gave up and continued playing good attacking football and scored 2 goals from Ben Ramsden and David Hunt in the last 13 minutes to deservedly get a point from the game. Danny King was named Silsdens man of the match. Final Score Bd3 Utd 2 Silsden 2
Silsden’s Under 13A’s put in a terrific whole team performance away to Bronte Wanderers eventually winning by 12 goals to 2. Silsden were strong in every position and played lovely passing football. Scorers were Tom Yeadon with two hat tricks (6); Tom Southgate with a brace; Tom Baldy with 1 and Danny Driver, proving that you don’t have to be called Tom to score for Silsden, with a hat trick! Man of the Match, midfielder Tom Southgate. Final score Silsden U13a’s 12 – Bronte Wanderers 2.
Silsden Under 13B’s Playing the 1st of two fixtures over the weekend Silsden were up against a spirited Myrtle Park. Defender Ben Lowry opened up the score sheet with a unchallenged run up the left wing slotting the ball into the top corner over the keepers head .Myrtles confidence wasn’t dented and were soon awarded with a penalty only for Silsden keeper Danny Binns doing enough to cause the striker to shoot wide. Adam Cooper added Silsdens 2nd goal, and with a tight defence of Billy Davis, Paul Robinson, Harry Sessford and Lowry pushed right up to the half way line Silsdens midfield Danny Santabarbara ,and Cooper were allowed to command the game .Wingers Sam Conway ,Luke Wilson Chris Rudden and Jamie England were constantly given time and space allowing them to cross the ball across the box eventually leading to four goals one apiece for the Woodrow brothers Luke and Sam and two from Jamie England finishing the game with A Cooper taking MOTM Final Score MyrtlePark U13 0 Silsden Juniors U13B 6
Silsden Under 13 B’s In their 2nd game of the weekend Silsden were in control of the game and were given the chance to play players in different positions to their normal role. By half time Silsden had a comfortable lead of five goals, 3 coming from Kyle Moulson ,1 from Chris Rudden and a unfortunate home goal. Bronte were not to be deterred and managed to string a series of passes together around the Silsden defence and take a well deserved goal. This seemed to stir Silsden up into a goal spree ,Jamie England took 2,Jack Beetham 1,Luke Wilson 3,Rudden and Moulson each took another. In order to relieve the situation Silsden pushed their defenders Harry Sessford into a striker position, and Luke Watson to midfield, this didn’t help Bronte as both Sessford and Watson both made it onto the score sheet. MOTM Chris (crouchy) Rudden Final score Bronte Wanderers 1 Silsden Juniors U13B 15

W/E 17/02/08 Silsden under 8A’s were second best for long periods against a well drilled, talented Shipley side, but still managed to grind out a precious away win. Some decent passing in the icy conditions resulted in a Silsden corner, and when Shipley failed to clear, Liam Ireland was unmarked in the box to give Silsden the lead. A galvanized Shipley then forced Silsden keeper Lewis Middleton into a string of great saves before a Shipley corner found their no.9 unmarked, and he fired home from 3 yards out. Shipley went ahead in the 2cnd half in much the same fashion, and Silsden heads were dropping, until MOTM Sean Clayton brought the ball down in midfield and slotted a great pass up to Oliver Howard, who deftly chipped the keeper to draw level. Silsden never stopped working though, and after a quick counter attack, Ben Clarkson added a third from close range to go 3-2 ahead. It was a nervy final 2 minutes, but the away side took all 3 points. Final score Shipley 2-3 Silsden.
Silsden Under 16A’s were home to league leaders Bingley who took the game to the hosts right from the kick off, Silsden held firm against this early pressure and worked hard to lock Bingley out. Silsden took a deserved lead on 20 minutes when Adam Sessford lofted the ball over the the Bingley keeper, Silsden grew stronger after the goal and disrupted the visitors game and challenged strongly for every ball half time score 1-0. Bingley came out strong at the start the second period looking to level the scores but hard work and a growing confidence kept the home team in control as Bingleys chances were kept to a minimum. Silsden deservedly went further ahead when a clearance from the penalty area landed at Andy Cairns feet he quickly let fly from the half way line and watched his shot drop into the empty net. The home side pressed on and Sam Wood benefited from a handling error to escort the ball over the line for 3-0 before John Golson made it 4-0 from close in. This was a very good performance against an excellent side with every player contributing to the win final score Silsden 4 Bingley 0 Match point went to Ross Suri

W/E 10/02/08 Silsden under 8s(A) 1- 0 Horsforth Stallions A welcome return to league football after an enforced layoff saw Silsden victorious in a hard fought evenly balanced match. Silsden kicked off and had most of the early pressure, Oliver Howard testing the Horsforth keeper with a looping shot. Yet more attacking play resulted in Howard turning on a pin, driving goalwards and smashing past the keeper for a deserved 1-0 lead. Horsforth retaliated but a one on one with keeper Lewis Middleton saw the Silsden stopper make a fantastic save. A succession of Silsden corners after some great pressure saw Rob Jones fire just past the upright. Half time and Silsden on top, showing good fitness despite the break in fixtures. Second half and Horsforth stepped up the pressure, but defenders Connor Malee and Sean Clayton saw of all that was thrown at them. A fluid Silsden attack saw Charlie Lowrie and Ben Clarkson play a fantastic one / two that came to nothing but the move was great football. Shortly after, another Silsden passing move resulted in Elliot Halls effort blazing over the bar, and a cleared Silsden goalmouth scramble saw the game out. Man of the match was Oliver howard, deservedly so.
Silsden Under 9A’s never got going in this encounter, it didn't help conceeding a couple of goals in the first five minutes, they huffed and puffed but just couldn't get the goal they needed. Some goood saves in both halves by Silsden keeper and M.O.M. Josh Vickers kept the score down, but by the break Oakworth had a four goal lead. Tommy Snowden managed to claw one back but it only turned out to be a consloation goal, before going a further two goals behind tio give a final score Oakworth Hornets 6 Silsden A 1
Silsden Under 9B Despite the final score of 4 nil to Silsden this was a very even game which could have gone either way. Silsden only had 7 players and in a very sporting move Oakworth allowed them to use A team player Tommy Snowden to ensure that everyone got a full game. Snowden formed a good partnership with Callum Hey in defense, that somehow managed to keep Oakworth from scoring, despite going close many times. Silsden's Man of the Match Danny Treece was a hand full throughout the game showing some good individual touches and it was he who opened the scoring to make it 1 nil at half time. Despite resilience from Oakworth in the second half, Treece completed an impressive hat trick, with Dylan Lowe adding the fourth goal.
Silsden Under 10A’s made a great start to the game against Queensbury this week at home, with lovely passing moves from Harry McGowan to Ben Metcalfe and the ball was struck home by Dan Hunt. 1-0, Queensbury pushed back with a couple of shoots at the Silsden goal, but David Emmott was on his usually form, to stop anything. Connor Meegan and Sam Maude pressured the Queensbury midfield to get the ball out to Hunt and Mcgowan, but the Queensbury goalkeeper kept pushing out the strikes. Second half Silsden moved the ball with skill to keep Queensbury in their own half, a great build up from Hunt to McGowan allowed a cool finish from Callum Muir. Silsden then continued to push Queensbury with goals coming from Harry McGowan, Ben Metcalfe and a most rewarding goal for Silsden usually defender Charlie Pociecha to end the game Silsden A 5 – 0 Queensbury. Man of Match was Dan Hunt.
Silsden Under 12A’s were up against Idle in the League Cup and with a couple of key players missing manager Stephen Narey had to shuffle the players round to try and stifle the dangerous attacking force from Idle. Silsden struggled under the changes and soon found themselves 2 goals down after being caught out by the pace of Idle’s very quick winger. Ben Phillip was brought on to provide some stability to the defence and it worked as the midfield of Harry Marshall, Jack Leach and Ben Dakin came more and more into the game. Silsden were rewarded when a Jack Roberts free kick was fumbled by the Idle keeper and Dylan Budge was on hand to fire the loose ball home. Half time 2-1 down with a lot of work to do. In the second half Silsden piled on the pressure to try and get something out of the game but Idle weathered the storm for the first 20 minutes. Silsden were unlucky not to get the equaliser when Budge had a shot that just trickled wide. Silsden had numerous half chances which they couldn’t put away and they paid for this when Idle broke away with 5 minutes to go to seal a 3-1 win for them. Man of the match award went Dylan Budge. Final Score Idle 3 Silsden 1
Silsden Under 12B’s This was Silsden’s first game in the league since the 4th November but they were into their stride early and squandered a number of chances before a fine strike from Josh Morton arrowed into the bottom corner after 15 minutes. By half time a third away victory of the year was secured with goals from Mathew Bates on his debut and the first of the afternoon from George Holmes. The second half started in the same vein with Silsden pressing Prospect back into there own half and attacking down both wings via Josh Morton & Jacob Palmer, who both created numerous chances for the team. Within 5 minutes George Holmes had added his second and Silsden’s fourth with a 20 yard drive that went in off the underside of the bar. A few minutes later Jamie Laycock squeezed a shot under the keeper to make it 5-0 and Prospect looked dead and buried. However to their credit they threw themselves forward & fought back with two quick-fire goals and were only denied a third by a last ditch tackle. This seemed to re-awaken Silsden and any hint of a remarkable come back was extinguished by a calm finish from George Holmes for his second hat-trick against Prospect this season and another from Marco Jimenez, which capped off a fine game for the Silsden striker. Match point winner was Marco Jimenez. Final Score Prospect 2 Silsden B’s 7

W/E 03/02/08 Silsden under 9 A’s In only the second game of the year Silsden battled particularly well in the latter stages of this game, but they did start slow due to gaps between matches Thackley got off to the best start by going into a two goal in the first half on what turned out to be quiet a good pitch. M.O.M. Jamie Ridehalgh linked up the defence and the attack very well as Silsden tried to get back into it but to no avail. After the break Silsden fell further behind which seemed to put new life into them and they stepped up a gear and once Luke Baldwin got the first it looked as if they could go on and get some just reward for effort. Tommy Snowden went down the right and lofted the ball over the keeper into the far top corner of the net, with time running out Baldwin swung in a corner only for the ball to hit the far post and come out.Final score Silsden A 2 Thackley Warriors 3.
Silsden Under 9B Given recent weather conditions Silsden met Thackley on a surprisingly good pitch. There was very little between the teams in the first half and it looked likely that the initial goal would come from a set piece. That was exactly what happened when Silsden defender Callum Hey went forward for a corner, he connected well with the flighted ball and headed into the net. Unfortunately the lead was not to last and Thackley managed to score twice before half time. Although Silsden worked hard at the back, Jack Shaw and man of the match Hey working well together, Thackley continued to have the better of the chances in the 2nd half. Despite not being 100% fit Cameron Bealey-Kay managed to score, as did Danny Treece who showed some excellent close control, but Thackley went on to win 5-3 in the end.
Silsden Under 10A's hard-fought victory avenged a home defeat by Thackley earlier in the season. An excellent start from the visitors, slick passing and constant pressure but the home goalkeeper was in fine form. Harry McGowan's long-range effort was pushed wide and Sam Maude hit the post after a goalmouth scramble. Silsden's failure to capitalise on a one-sided first half looked ominous as they faced a second period against the wind. However, they stepped up a further gear to seize control with an early goal. Dan Hunt sliced open the defence and Ben Metcalfe applied the finish at the second attempt. Five more minutes and it was 2-0, Ben Ogden finishing at the far post after great build-up from Harry McGowan and Dan Hunt. There was no way back for Thackley now, Silsden looked likely to increase their lead but closed out the game with a skillful and dogged display. Great team work, dynamic Sam Maude was Man-of-Match.
Silsden Under 10B started well in difficult conditions, within the first 5 minutes Josh Clarkson on his debut for the B Team placed the ball past Thackley’s goalkeeper to score. Kieran D’Arcy pushed Silsden midfield forward, but Thackley took advantage of a mistake by Silsden to strike back. Harry Leach was unlucky as his strike on goal was saved. Silsden soon went behind to a well struck goal by Thackley. The squad continued to make good changes with some excellent passing football. Thackley scored again within minutes of the second half kick off, Laurance Green made some great saves to try and keep Silsden in the game, an error by Silsden allowed the Thackley in once again. Connor Meegan on his first run in the B Team made some great moves to push Silsden forward, his efforts today were not to be. The score didn’t reflect the efforts made the Silsden Squad – Man of the match was Matt Chambers for his outstanding defence. Thackley B 5 – 1 Silsden B.
Silsden Juniors 12A Silsden were up against Wortley in the quarter finals of the WRCFA Shield Cup looking for a place in the semi finals which are going to be played at Woodlesford. Conditions were not suited for football with a cold and very strong wind affecting both teams football. Silsden raced ahead in the 15th minute after David Hunt played a beautifully weighted pass that Dylan Budge gleefully fired past the advancing Wortley keeper. In a very tight game where most of the play was in midfield Ryan Narey, Josh Holt were like terriers, gnarling away at the oppositions midfield forcing them back. The second half went very much the same way without either goalkeeper being troubled too much but Wortley found a way past Jack Baker after a ball over the top was chased down by the Wortley striker and gave Silsden goalkeeper Jack Baker no chance. Once again there was late drama after Silsden went ahead with 2 minutes to go after good work down the left from Ben Dakin and Harry Marshall resulted in the ball being played through to Budge who hit the post then followed it up to make it 2-1. Silsden were then hit by a sucker punch in the last minute when another long ball over the top found Worley's striker who hammered it home. Extra time for third time running in this cup competition and no further goals scored. The defence of Josh Brown, Ben Phillip, Jack Leach, Ben Dakin, Jack Roberts and Ben Addison were awesome today. Danny King and Ben Ramsden worked their socks off up and down the wings. The dreaded penalties were up next and it was Wortley to go first and they scored, Budge then scored to make it 1-1, Wortley missed then Ramsden scored to make it 2-1, Wortley missed again then King missed –still 2-1. What tension there was now and Wortley scored to make it 2-2. Up next was Brown who scored to make it 3-2, Wortley then missed their fifth penalty sending Silsden through to the semis. Silsdens man of the match was Ryan Narey. Final Score Silsden 2 Wortley 2 (2-2 AET, Silsden won 3-2 on pens)
Silsden Under 13 A’s at last managed to play their first league match of the year beating Shipley Tigers 9-0. Silsden enjoyed the majority of the possession which was reflected in the score. Scorers were defender James Schofield in a rare trip up front; Danny Driver with a hat trick; Tom Southgate with a well timed volley and Man of the Match, Josh McNulty who obviously had his shooting boots on, scoring 4.

W/E 27/1/08 Silsden under 10A’s almost made a perfect start when Ben Metcalfe heading Harry McGowan's cross against the post in the first attack but after that both teams settled into an even contest. Visiting keeper Laurence Green produced a series of smart saves as Sutton used the slope and following breeze to try some long shots. Two quickfire goals gave Silsden the advantage, Andrew Briggs heading home Ben Ogden's corner and then Dan Hunt heading Sam Maude's right wing cross home. Sutton rallied well with a wind-assisted shot from the halfway line which sailed over Green's head for a goal. Hunt restored the lead before some eccentric Silsden defending allowed the home side to close the gap at halftime 2-3. A brisk start to the second half saw Silsden pull away with two goals, both times Dan Hunt showing a nice touch and cool finishing. With the home side fading it was one-way traffic now, a Charlie Pociecha slalom setting the pulses racing, though the crowd had to wait until the last minute for further scores, Hunt completing a magnificent five goal haul and Briggs slotting home after a fine move. A good return to action for Silsden, man-of-match for clever creative play was Ben Metcalfe. Sutton 2 Silsden 7.
Silsden Under 10-B After weeks of inactivity both under-10s teams were eager to get back into action and set a brisk pace. Silsden took an early lead when Matthew Dent's corner caused confusion and Ryan Patel netted. Sutton came back strongly, some excellent dribbling and approach play spoiled by wayward finishing or unluckily hitting the woodwork. The second half saw the home side get an early goal to level the scores. Both sides then worked hard for the winner, Ryan Thornton lead the Silsden line well but was too often alone against several defenders. Good battling from rookie Will Hibbert in midfield helped create a chance for Kieran Darcy but the keeper saved well. The balance swung either way before the referee ended the contest with the sides still locked together. Man-of-match was Silsden's left-winger Ryan Patel - Sutton 1 Silsden 1.
Silsden Juniors U11 A’s vs Eldwick Eagles U11’s the wet weather threatened the cancellation of yet another match, but thanks to the generosity of Steeton Football Club, the team were able to fulfil a home fixture for the first time since the middle of November. The boys responded well by making maximum use of the fine surface with strong passing football from the opening whistle. The pressure paid off midway through the first half when Euan Sessford broke through and slotted the first into the bottom corner before Harry Muir executed a perfect lob over the keeper soon after for number two. Euan made it three just before half-time tucking a penalty tightly inside the post after being bundled over in the box. Eldwick tried to fight back as the second half got underway but good defending through midfield and across the back four saw most visitor attacks quickly turned around the other way. One of these counter attacks created goal number four as a neat interception by Joe Mason and a sting of clever passes put George Guest through to take his goal well. Despite the slightly larger pitch, Silsden were taking corners well and were causing problems for the visitors defence with long, hard balls perfectly hitting the danger area time after time. One of these was met by Ben Shepphard at the far post who slid the ball past the goalmouth scramble to make it five. Ben then doubled his tally for the day by working his way in from the left wing to an identical position to his first and slotting in a carbon copy goal for Silsden’s sixth. The home team were denied a clean sheet however when an Eldwick player was brought down in the box and a late consolation goal was scored from the resultant penalty. The final whistle blew straight after though to end a fine display of passing football from the home side who made good use of possession and ruthlessly exploited their chances on goal. Full time: Silsden Juniors 6 Eldwick Eagles 1.
Silsden Juniors 12A This was Silsdens first league game for 2 months and they set off at an almighty pace and set the tone for the rest of the match when in the 3rd minute Dylan Budge scored after following up a Ben Ramsden shot that hit the crossbar. The home team dominated possession and in a 4 minute spell scored a further 3 more goals; the first was a header from Budge then Ramdsden slotted home after a great run from Josh Metcalfe. Ben Addison then scored the 4th after firing home a low drive when Sedbergh failed to clear a corner. Sedbergh pressured well during the latter stages of the first half but simply couldn't find a way past the Silsden defence. 4-0 half time. The second half picked up immediately as the first finished, with Sedbergh hitting Silsden on the break and they pulled a goal back in the 37th minute. Ryan Narey was having a superb game after being drafted into the centre back position and marshalled the defence at every opportunity when Sedbergh were beginning to come into the game. With 10 minutes to go David Hunt put the game beyond Sedbergh when he turned and lobbed the keeper. He then added his second from a free kick to make the final score 6-1. Ryan Narey was man of the match Final Score Silsden 6 Sedbergh 1

W/E 13/01/08 Silsden Under 9A travelled to Long Lee for the first game for both sides in a number of weeks due to the weather and christmas but you wouldn't have thought it as both teams played some excellent football, even though it ended goalless it was very entertaining to watch and everybody played there part. Both keepers made some good stops when called on, Max Orviss was M.O.M. but could have really been anyone. Luke Baldwin, Tommy Snowden and Jack Watkinson all had chances with Watkinson just failing after a good shot on the turn. A point each was a fair result in the end.
Silsden Under 9B The last time these two teams met Long Lee came out on top after being behind for most of the match, winning by one goal. That close fought game set the scene for the reverse fixture at Long Lee. Silsden had the greater possession in the first half, with the ball spending the majority of the time in the Long Lee third. However, the home team defended well and Silsden found it difficult get the ball into the net. Nathan Town finally managed to break the deadlock slotting in from close range, whilst Long Lee only had one real effort on goal before the break, which managed to evade keeper George Muir to even the score. In the second half Silsden were again the more dominant attacking force, whilst Long Lee looked dangerous on the break. Silden's defensive pairing of Jamie Ridehalgh and Callum Hey worked hard at the back making it hard for Long Lee to break through. Second half goals from man of the match Jack Shaw and another from Town, gave Silsden a 2 goal cushion. Long Lee scored a late goal to make it 4-3, but the vistors managed to hold on for their victory in a closely fought game.
Silsden Under 11B v Horsforth Colts returned to action after switching to an away fixture against highflying Horsforth Colts. The Colts quickly showed why they are doing so well, regularly catching Silsden on the break with their speed upfront. It was a change for Silsden to be on the back foot as they have dominated recent games, even if they haven’t always got the result they have deserved.Rob Cox made 2 great saves, and there were tremendous blocks by Billy Burridge & Abdullah Din. They were eventually undone when the Horsforth striker miscued his shot, only for it to loop over the stranded keeper. As Silsden struggled with the pace of the Colt’s strike force Cox was called upon to make a superb point blank save & Josh Moore battled back with a fantastic covering tackle.Silsden began to play their usual attacking game & after Miles Ogden broke out of defence the ball fell to Callum Sugden whose shot was well saved by the keeper. Horsforth raided again and despite appearing offside doubled their lead. This spurred on Silsden and Calum Hey’s mazy run fooled the defence and he coolly slotted the ball past the keeper. The Colts were not to be outdone and caught their opponents napping to restore the 2-goal lead, although strong appeals for offside fell on deaf ears.Silsden strove hard to pull one back before half time, Danny Smith was unlucky to see his chip saved by the keeper, and minutes later Ed Barrett shot narrowly wide.Early in the second half Horsforth managed to scramble the ball in from a corner giving them a 4-1 lead, but Silsden refused to give up. They pounded the Colts goal with Hey adding his second, chipping over the keeper. Sugden was unlucky when his shot proved too powerful for the keeper who was grateful to see the ball stop in the mud, just short of the line. The Horsforth defence were clearly rattled & Smith burst on to Ben Appleyard’s through ball before shooting agonisingly wide of the post. Tom Rooke then played the ball into the area and Appleyard’s shot was fumbled into the net by the keeper reducing the lead to one.Horsforth made the occasional break into Silsden half but the defence held firm with Cox making some outstanding saves & Tom Greenwood having a strong second half.As the Colts broke again, Din made a fantastic effort to beat the pacey forward to the ball, as the Horsforth player cut in front he was unfortunate to clip his heels and bring him down. Much to everyone’s amazement the referee produced a red card, needlessly spoiling what had been a tremendous game. Silsden still refused to lie down Barrett & Hey dominated the midfield and Kyle Booth caused problems down the left wing. Time and time again Silsden bombarded their opponent’s penalty area but just couldn’t convert the equaliser they deserved. Man of the match went to Rob Cox for pulling off some world class saves, although everyone deserves a pat on the back as this was probably the best team performance of the season.Final score Horsforth Colts 4 Silsden 11b 3
Silsden under 13B’s Once again playing a team a league above them in the Presidents Cup Silsdens footballing skills proved too much for the host team Sandy Lane. Although conceeding the 1st goal they never looked in any danger of loosing this match and soon the pressure from Jack Beetham and Chris Rudden up front started the cracks showing in the hosts defence. Luke Wilson equalised and then came a goal spree with Sam Woodrow taking 3,Jamie England 2 and Chris Rudden 1. Billy Davis, Alisdair Allam, Harry Sessford and Ben Lowry defended the Silsden net confidently giving the midfielders Danny Santabarbara, and Adam Cooper, Sam Conway and England a chance to play some good attacking football and spread the play around the field . Keeper Danny Binns was only tested once or twice in the first half and never really touched the ball in the 2nd .Sandy Lane managed a 2nd goal late in the game a one of shot catching the keeper of guard but by then the damage had been done. Jamie England was awarded MOTM Final Score Sandy Lane U13A 2 Silsden U13B 7

W/E 06/01/08 Silsden Juniors U11 A’s The lack of any competitive football since November was evident as Silsden struggled to gel during a weak first half. Despite some early attacks, the visitors never really looked like getting on the scoresheet and Bradford managed to absorb the pressure before eventually turning the game around. The home side went ahead when the Silsden keeper was judged to have brought down an on-rushing attacker who placed the resultant penalty well beyond the keepers reach. Bradford doubled their lead soon after when once again Silsden failed to close down the opposition on the edge of the box and were given all the time needed to pick their spot and score. Number three came when a lone defender was left to deal with three rushing Bradford players who took advantage easily to hold a three goal cushion in to the half time break. There is still a patent pending on the magic used during Silsdens half- time talks, but once again a totally transformed team took to the park for the re-start.
